Ullal: The second edition of an annual CME, “ORTHOSCAN 2023’ held by the Department of Orthopaedics, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Natekal Mangaluru, was inaugurated by NITTE University Pro Chancellor Dr Shantharam Shetty in the lecture hall of Kanachur Hospital.


Speaking to the audience, Dr. Shetty said that correlating radiologic investigations with orthopaedic conditions had made a lot of changes in the medical field. I appreciated the combination of three departments for the CME under one roof, i.e., orthopedics, radiology, and nuclear medicine.
KIMS Director Abdul Rahiman presided over the function. KIMS Dean Dr (Col) K G Kiran, Kanachur Health Sciences Advisory Council Chairman Dr. Ismail, KHRC Deputy MS Dr ShahnawazCouncil Chairman Dr. Ismail, KHRC Deputy MS Dr Shahnawaz, and KHRC Chief Administrative Officer Dr Rohan Monis were on the dais.
Dr. Lakshmikanth H. K. of Kanachur IMS led a session on MRI imaging.Dr. K. Salauddin Arif then gave a talk about CT.The programme continued with bone scanning sessions led by Dr Radha Mohan (AJ Institute), ultrasound examinations led by Dr Raguraj (KSHEMA), and PET CT sessions led by Dr Sujith Rai (AJ Institute).Dr. Sandeep Shibli (KIMS) will present a session on 3D printing.Dr Navaneeth Kamath, Orthopedic Onco surgeon by Indiana hospital talk on tumours was interesting.
The programme concluded with “RADIOLOGISTS AND ORTHOPEDICIANS: AN ORTHOPEDIC DILEMMA,” a discussion on various aspects and diseases of radiology and orthopaedics where they differ.Also discussed was the best way to approach a specific disease or condition, which was led by Dr Rachichandra G, Dr Jeevan Periera, Dr Chidananda Murthy, and Dr Navaneeth Kamath.
Dr K Salauddin Arif (Organizing Chairperson), Dr Jalaluddeen M V (Organizing Secretary), and Dr Avinash Kumar (Treasurer) conducted the event. A total of 150 delegates from all over Karnataka were present.
The gathering was welcomed by Dr. Arif, the organising chairman.
